Ch. 3: Forging New Bonds

Third Campaign of the Xios Prophecy Trilogy

| Fifty years have passed since the Hundred-Year Balance War ended. With Myrkul finally banished from the material plane, the Alliance of Hope celebrated their long awaited victory over the Crucible of the Blood. The war that was said to end the calamities and bring a new era of peace and prosperity had left a nasty scar, leaving the continent of Xios with only a fraction of the population it once had. With the five main factions left to tend to their own lands, there was a high demand for adventurers to fill the gap where employment was needed. The Order of Eldath had established the National Guild of Xios to bring in adventurers from all over the lands, with promises of fame and fortune. The land was finally beginning to heal and be at peace, but not all is as it seems to the eyes, and peace always comes with a price . . . |

Campaign Milestones

(X) Finding a Clue

The rest of the shards are going to be harder to find than the first four. PCs will have to figure out for themselves that one of the shards is located in the vault of the Dumbeldeen Palace, and the first step is to find a clue in the Dumbeldeen Metropolis.

PCs earn a level, as well as the location of the fifth shard of Durim

(XI) Renown is Key

In order to gain access to the vault, PCs will need to earn renown through the Enclave of the Forge faction by doing various quests.

(XII) Pyramid of Oz'Ghett

Inside the vault, a letter describes a shard being located inside the pyramid of Oz'Ghett. Oz'Ghett was a notorious powerful necromancer who betrayed the alliance during the war, and as punishment was buried within the pyramid. Rumors say the pyramid is cursed, and those who venture in don't come back out.
Reward
PCs level up, and obtain the sixth shard of Durim

(XIII) Needle in a Haystack

The trail runs cold after finding the sixth shard until a traveling elf happens to encounter them on his journies. Through the encounter, the elf tells the PCs that the elves in Illyaene's Grove say that a shard is kept within the Sanctum and guarded by the Night Sentinels.
Reward
PCs gain a level and information on where the next shard is located.

(XIV) Crucible of Blood Encounter

Another officer of the Crucible of Blood has found the PCs in the Eyeless Desert. PCs must eliminate the BBeG before they can reach Illyaene's Grove.
Reward
PCs gain a level and access to Illyaen's Grove, as well as completion of the Forging New Bonds campaign.

Before You Continue...

This campaign is the sequel to the Quest for the King's Grace campaign. If you have not played that campaign yet, the plot will have a lot of holes in it. It is recommended to start from the beginning of the trilogy to allow for the storyline to unfold.
