Shambler

Not every Warlock is a master at raising Undead to do their bidding. They all have to start from somewhere, and that somewhere is usually a lowly Shambler. Considered the lowest of the low, beneath even a mindless Candleskull whose sole purpose in un-life is to hold a candle. Worthy of only contempt, a Shambler is little more than a corpse that is barely able to move about under its own power. Shamblers are sometimes called "zombies" by those who don't know better.   The easiest of Undead to raise, there are many, many Shamblers within the Legions of Doom. Most Shamblers are raised by novice Warlocks practising their craft, or are raised in a hurry by a more senior Warlock. Many Shamblers are raised missing various body parts, like arms or legs, internal organs, and sometimes even heads.   Shamblers are known to occasionally raise themselves within forgotten, lightless tombs and sealed crypts. Without a Warlock to direct them, these Shamblers wander mindlessly and are harmless and passive, not even possessing the mind to react in their own self defence. They can usually be safely ignored and left alone without much consequence.

Subtypes

Mossy Shamblers

Shamblers can become infested by invasive Corpse Moss, and become a rather worrying transmission vector for the carnivorous plant that slowly consumes it down to inedible bone. The moss spreads by contact, making even the mindless, passive Shamblers incredibly dangerous.

Rattlers

Shamblers can be raised from nothing more than a skeleton. Known by the Legions as "Rattlers", and simply "skeletons" by everyone else, these Shamblers are almost always in the worst condition of any raised undead. It seems that there are limits to what bones can be raised as a Rattler. Fossilized bones seem to have lost whatever essence they once possessed after countless millennia buried in deep rock, and Dragon bones have so far proven to be completely resistant to the foul rituals.
