Inanak

(a.k.a. The Glittering Lady, The Great Judge, The Dancing One)

"Love is her gift to the world, and is there any gift more beautiful? I think not."
- a priestess of the Glittering Lady to a Minoan scholar, date unknown
Inanak is the Bennuan goddess of love, justice, music, and dance. She is normally depicted as a female Bennu wearing a jewel-encrusted veil, with a sistrum in one hand and a set of scales in the other. Inanak, unlike her consort Nepheros, is one of the newest deities in the Bennuan pantheon, though her cult is still millennia old. She is sometimes referred to as "the dual-faced goddess," as she can be benevolent in her dealings as a love goddess yet harsh and unbending as a dispenser of justice. Priests and priestesses of the Glittering Lady tend to be very recognizable, as they all wear layers of colorfully beaded necklaces and jingling bracelets on their wrists and ankles.   Temples to Inanak are numerous, and always serve as sanctuaries for her consort as well. In their most sacred temple, located in the city of Emtakphis, the two deities are depicted in a joint statue made of solid gold. Legend states this statue simply appeared on a hill in the center of the then-village and the temple was constructed around it. While the statue is considered a coveted Bennuan treasure and a gift from the gods themselves, some foreign visitors have expressed alarm at the... entangled pose in which the deities are depicted.
