Xadia

Xadia is a world of splintered continents, broken by a war of the gods waged long ago known only as The Cataclysm. Their once-indomitable influence is felt less in the current age of 3287 AC, as the world becomes more mechanized and industrialized with the changing times: dirigibles dot the sky, bronze caravans on tracks traverse the land, and markets are awash with peddlers selling their latest inventions. Magic still exists, albeit less so and primarily only in the domain of divine worship; in fact, wielders of non-divine magic are treated with suspicion at best and open hostility at worst. Still, the world runs as it’s expected to: trade flows, wars wage, people live and die by codes either established by laws or ones they forge for themselves. There seem to be no surprises left in the world, especially in the country of Valdunn. It acts as it always has, prosperous, enviable, and constantly raising the bar at its expected pace. All is quiet. All is usual. All is normal. And all is unwell beneath the surface.
