The Retreat from Ostrangard

As a result of The Fall of Ostrangard, many people fled the failed kingdom. Known as 'The Retreat', this diaspora involved thousands of families travelling to several different places across the coast. Many of these families settled nearby in what would become Fort Ruby or the already established Gresh, while others made it even further, including small enclaves in Aedia, Trishampor, and Verstallis. With them, the refugees brought their expertise, resulting in the construction of Aedia's various strongholds, as well as cultural practices still continued to this day, such as Good Spirits.   In Aedan and the Summer Shores the refugees were welcomed and allowed to practice their own culture. However, at times in Estalia, the refugees came into conflict with The Silver Legion, House of Order, or the Governors as the various governmental agencies attempt to assimilate the Ostrangardians into Estalian society.   Many Ostrangardians believe that it is their destiny to eventually return to Ostrangard (nicknamed 'the Advance'), and that they will one day be reunited with their friends and families who stayed behind, as well as the spirits of their dead.
