Priests of the Broken
As servants of Solannis, Priests of the Broken can be found throughout Aedan.Typically dressed in long, white robes stained by the road, these priests travel from place to place with no set destination, conducting the various rituals of their faith as they go.
Their most important task is to take confessions and provide guidance. At any time, one may approach a Priest of the Broken, present their guilt, concerns, or fears, and receive advice and peace in response. This advice could be a simple "yes" or "no", or it could be several conversations over a couple days to sort through it. As part of their initiation, the priests make a vow of secrecy, where they promise to never repeat what they've been told in confidence. Many people take advantage of these wandering strangers to confess, knowing that their secrets will be kept - or better yet, forgotten.
In addition, the Priests of the Broken serve as a secondary form of law enforcement. Although they are not servants of the Aedan Parliament, they have been given permission to judge over most conflicts, with their judgement being considered the word of Solannis. Most of these judgements are in-line with the laws of Aedan, however, there have been some conflicts in the past between the priests and Queen's Wardens when they disagreed.
Priests of the Broken are also present at most important events over a person's life, presiding over births, deaths, and marriages. In fact, some of the more traditional citizens believe that these vital events haven't technically occurred until a Priest of the Broken has acknowledged it, meaning that the celebration of these can be withheld by several months until a priest passes through. Because of this, and because the priests themselves infamously take few records of their activities, has some joke that the priests are the nemeses of Sensors due to how much more difficult they make their jobs.
