Iconisism
A subsect of the Church of Thalor, Iconisists believe that - in addition to Totems serving as the primary follower of their respective deity - each god has one champion who has been gifted a spark of their divine power. This champion - referred to as an "Icon" - through their actions promotes their gods domain and thereby increases their power. In this sense, Icons serve as temporal leaders for the gods followers, while Totems serve as permanent leaders.
Officially the church doesn't recognize this belief, with many thinking it uncouth if not downright heresy. Because of this, Iconisists conduct their meetings in secrecy, during which they have fierce debates on who the Icons for various gods are - or even were. Although some icons are generally agreed upon - such as The Magister for Mystra or the Auctor for Thalor - most Icons remain a mystery.
It is believed that Icons could be detected through some form of Arcane Indexing or Divination magic, however, results have either been inconclusive or conflicting.
Feature
Requirements: Cleric, Paladin, or Warlock; Blessing of their Totem
Icons gain the following benefits:- You are magically marked with the sign of your God. The sign can be seen visibibly with arcane powers, but is subconsciously felt by those around you. As the icon for your god, followers of the same god will see you as their leader, second only to the totem.
- At any moment, and only once, you can call upon the totem of your God and summon it to your location. This summon is instantaneous, and can call them from any location, including a different plane.
