Bear Fever
Bear Fever is a common nickname for a lethargy one feels after eating a large amount of food or drink - particularly large amounts of fruits, berries, and alcohol. The nickname is inspired by the behaviour of bears that manage to break into an orchard, as they are usually found over-stuffed and lounging next to a pile to to-be-eaten produce. The term is typically only used in the Summer Shores, while Aedians and Estalians typically refer to it as "being overstuffed". Coincidentally, "Bear Fever" is very similar to the elvish term, which can be directly translated to "Bear-like sleep", although it's unclear if or how this lexicon would have travelled to the Summer Shores.
"Sweetie, eat slower! You don't want to catch Bear Fever, do you? Bear Fever? Oh yes, it is a very serious disease. It makes you very very sleepy - so sleepy you wouldn't be able to go on adventures after lunch. If you eat too much, you'll also blow up like a giant balloon, and if you're not careful, you can eat so much that you'd POP! Oh no no no, don't cry child - I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I was joking! Bear Fever is perfectly harmless, I promise. There, there. But you do need to eat slower, or else you'll make yourself sick. Ack! Don't you know it's rude to point out how much a lady is eating? Once you get to my age, you're allowed to eat as much as you want, as fast or as slow as you want! Now, Amose! Fetch me another drink! Your daughter's starting to make sense again..."- Grandmother and Granddaughter, from Scenes of the Summer Shores, by Amose Bouchard
