Lake Helen

Geography

  Named for Helen Aegis, the first Lady of House Aegis, this lake serves as the primary border between the Westmarches and the Verdante. It is fed by water from the Coquet Heights, and its outflow is Helen's Stream, which runs into Sarnia's Sound.    On the southern bank of Helen's Stream sits the capital of House Aegis, Caerpina, with the port of Crique further downstream. On the western shore of Lake Helen itself is Dellmill, with the seat of House Ossus (a minor house from which the current Rhetorlord, Talen Ossus, hails), Lakemarch, on the southern shore. On the east of Lake Helen is Oldstone, a fortress surrounded by marshes, abandoned in accordance with a peace treaty between Houses Aegis and Osage during the Age of Rule.   On the Verdante portion of the lake, its northern shore, is Blackrock, the starting point for The Verdante Trail. West of Blackrock is the fortress of Greenwatch, which stares across at Caerpina. Further west from there, along Helen's Stream, is Sarnia, the capital of the Verdante and House Osage.
