Summer Camp '25 Homework
Week 1: Nourishment
While I listed all three worlds on my pledge document, my main focus is Caelum Prime. The reason I listed all three is so that if a prompt doesn't fit with one world, I can see about fitting it into one of the others. With Caelum Prime being my main focus, I am using this week to go over this world's meta. If I have time between this and my other projects I will look at the meta for my other worlds.
In terms of the theme of Nourishment, most people have what they need, food and spiritually. But darkness spreads and sometimes food isn't what everyone considers 'kosher'.
I immediately thought of a cookbook based on the food of Caelum Prime. And I remember from the WA livestream, I wasn't the only one who thought of this. It's definitely something I want to explore, either during Summer Camp or after. While I would make this unique to my world, I would also add in thoughts and snippets from Josiah as well.
Week 2: Roots
While all three of my worlds cultures need their roots explored, I am keeping my focus in mind. While all my cultures and ethnicities are important on Caelum Prime, there are three that I am prioritizing: Inua Nara, Anyaia: Children of the First Note, and Iskashita: The First Spark. These cultures are important in my novel I'm writing in this world so exploring their roots is a step I've been meaning to take.
I'm not sure that a primer would work for well for Caelum Prime. While I understand the idea beyond one, this world (as it currently stands) is for readers of my novels to explore the world more. I don't want to make them feel forced into following a path they don't want to follow. I want them to explore what interests them. And I'm setting it up so that Josiah Ward, the MC of my novel, is there with them on each article since he is a historian and the Guardian of Caelum Prime.
Worldbuilding has been an evolving thing for me. My earliest project is expansive but at the same time, I have it spread across several Word documents. I have trouble finding what I need and since I didn't have the tools of World Anvil at my fingertips, there is a lot of missing information despite the number of pages I have written.
Week 3: Metamorphosis
In the current era, dust rain is falling from the sky causing apocalyptic conditions on Caelum Prime. Eaters, Gloombringers and Vampyres roam freely now, hunting humans. Josiah Ward is doing what he can to protect the remaining humans are they do what they can to survive in an ever-changing world where safe havens are few and far between.
I finished reading a romance book by Nora Roberts. While technically I've read her work before, this novel was written earlier than the other works I've read. It was well-written as I've come to expect from her but I could see the difference in her writing. There's a growth to her writing that inspires and shows me that by doing, I will get better.
For assignment 3, it's coming... potentially. I need to explore the community's articles (maybe later this week)
Change is essential. It will be fun exploring this on Caelum Prime.
Week 4: Tomorrow
Taking a look at everything in Caelum Prime, Gloombringers (especially Razul, Malichor and Drothia) are creating chaos in this world. With the use of Eaters, Mongrels, and Clowns in order to overthrow Infinite Grace and dominate the human race.
While the Frontier Pathfinders are trying to find a way to stop the Gloombringers from starting the apocalypse. Though they also prep to help the Guardian of Caelum Prime and support him when the vent does happen.
Writing Schedule: As always my writing schedule will be based around my paying job's schedule. As long as it's consistent so will my writing time. Though I will be streaming around the clock for the month of July and will be pushing a bit for Game of Tomes Tourney of Tales.
Writing Space: It's not distraction free, but I'm okay with that. I have techniques to help focus.
This list isn't going to cover all of the themed prompts nor the wild cards (since I can't know what they're going to be yet) but it at least give me a place to start.
Community: I'm on the World Anvil Discord Server, though I tend to be quiet there. I am more talkative on the Game of Tomes Discord Server, not just because of the events they have, but because I help with the lore.
Summer Camp starts June 28th
Note: I will be using the last few days of June to finalize my goals for July as I am participating in Game of Tomes Tourney. All new writing for Summer Camp will start on July 1st so that I can count those words for GoT.
Three worlds gives you so much space to be creative! Best of luck! <3
