Wave Echo Cave

More than 500 years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Mudston Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power found within. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and the gnomes to seal away the magic they found in a vault in the cave. Times were good and the nearby human town of Wolton prospered. Long ago a powerful force of orcs invaded from the north and laid waste to the lands. Reinforced by mercenary wizards, the lands were ravaged and ransacked with the orc army pillaging any wealth they could find. That’s when the Empire was solidified and the smaller kingdoms formed one cohesive alliance. The newly unified empire pushed back the orcs to the north past The Dragon’s Keep city. The battles for domination over the land, however, destroyed much of the caverns and towns across the land. The location of Wave Echo Cave was lost. For centuries, rumors of buried riches have attracted treasure hunters and opportunists to the area around Wolton, adding much to the development of Wolton as a city and trading capital for the Empire. However, no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. In recent years the Rockseeker brothers, a trio of dwarves, have discovered the entrance to Wave Echo Cave. A mysterious villian known as the Black Spider controls a network of bandit gangs and goblin tribes in the area, and his agents have followed the Rockseeker brothers to their prize. The Black Spider wanted Wave Echo Cave for himself and his employer and is taking steps to make sure no one else knows where it is.   Presently, the mines in the cave have reopened under the command of The Lords' Alliance.
