Woven Fates

A new era dawns on the world of Terralior, an era of exploration sparked by the unearthing of the Elderin ruins by the Celestial Knights guild. Across the continent of Arcania, adventures, guilds, and parties emerge to uncover the secrets of this lost civilization. Nations that once only concerned themselves with internal affairs look outward, stretching spheres of influence beyond the continent into the Starpoint Isles and the Grand Continent beyond.

On the grand island of Arcania, not all is peaceful. In the north, the Arcania Empire and the Draconrosa Confederation lick their wounds from their last great war. The Kingdoms of the Accords contend with the weakening of the barrier over the Pandaemon Wound. The once isolationist Azrath Alliance finds itself the center of attention as the home front of the Celestial Knights. These superpowers and other nations find themselves in an arms race as great minds collaborate to create advancements in alchemical and magical sciences, and new forms of transportation work to make the seemingly vast lands smaller and more connected.

The disturbance of the ruins that stretch across Arcania has brought new dangers as well; roaming monsters have become a frequent sight, including the return of dragons. In this uncertain and changing time, demons and devils seek to influence mankind, and the gods' influence is felt across the land once more.

The world is fantastical

Magic practitioners are abundant in urban areas, and the crafting of basic magical items is a well-practiced art.

Much of the world is untamed

Outside the influence of cities lie large swaths of untamed wilderness, where bandits, monsters, and extraplanar forces pose a danger to ordinary folk.

The gods are real

The gods are a real and known force. There are stories of them walking the world, although it is rare for a common person to meet a god.

The world is Ancient

The world of Terralior was once covered in societies with advanced arcane technology; however, an unknown calamity set the mortal races back to the Bronze Age, and the monuments of that old world were buried beneath the earth.

Conflict has shaped the world time and time again

Wars spanning in scope from city-states to pantheon-shaking conflicts span the history of the world. Villainous schemes of demon lords, powerful sorcerers, and other preternatural threats have toppled nations and changed the course of history time and time again.

The aspects of society are still in a period of recovery after an apocalyptic event

The sudden destruction of the Anglion Empire left those who remained shaken, and the world entered an era of darkness as much of the civilized folks' recorded knowledge was destroyed alongside the empire.

Magic exists alongside science

Magic is a studied phenomenon that bends physics and nature but does not break it. Much of the world is still governed by scientific explanations.
