Wolf's-bane

While traditionally used as a poison, wolf's-bane as a few other uses. It can be used in accessories, though this is a dangerous craft. It is also used as a symbol for the vampire hunting guild, The Hunters' Outlawed. However, it's effectiveness towards vampires makes many hunters of such creatures use the poison. It is a very common plant.

As an Accessory

Because most wolf's-bane, especially in Europe, irritates the skin on contact and may lead to poisoning if the skin is not properly washed before meals, the flower is often dipped in resin or glass before being molded into an accessory. Resin is most often used, as molten glass may burn some of the petals. Most often, the resin-coated wolf's-bane is shaped into a pendent to be used on necklaces.
There have been some reported cases where the flower itself was shaped into a circlet or a necklace, though those types of accessories are often seen in older art or are used by druids or others practicing witchcraft.

As a Symbol

Wolf's-bane is important to a guild of vampire hunters known as The Hunters' Outlawed. This guild is made of werewolves and regular humans who have taken it upon themselves to defeat the threat of vampires. While wolf's-bane is a fairly powerful poison, often killing a victim an hour to a few days after the initial poisoning, it is especially effective against vampires. Because of it's extra effectiveness to the guild's quarry, it has become the main symbol. Guild members tend to wear pendents with a minimalistic wolf's-bane flower on it.

As a Poison

Wolf's-bane is a pretty potent poison, often killing its victims in an hour to several days. However, some species have a weakness to the wolf's-bane poison, such as vampires. Wolf's-bane tends to be used in poisons that are used to tip arrows or spears and is uncommonly used as a "coward's killer," poisoning someone's food. Those that carry it keep it close for emergencies and whenever an opportunity opens for them to weaken their quarry. Wolf's-bane is handled with gloves.

Significance

Wolf's-bane is used by The Hunters' Outlawed as both a symbol and a weapon. All the hunters of this guild carry a bag of wolf's-bane with them at all times, and other hunters may feel comfortable talking to those that carry such bags. While not all who carry wolf's-bane are hunters of the guild, most to all are hunters of vampires.
