Pact Forces Respond

2000
9/7

The division continues to prepare for the attack on Łódź, but Pact forces respond.

The 4-12 Cavalry, having completed its counterclockwise maneuver, encounters superior numbers of Polish cavalry at Pabianice, a southwestern suburb of Łódź. They radio the contact back to division headquarters and withdraw to Łask.   Later in the day, 2nd Brigade elements guarding the road bridge across the Warta at Konin repel an attack by mechanized infantry of the Polish 10th Tank Division. After the Polish troops withdraw, they are observed digging in a few kilometers away.
