The Notorious Session 26: The Betrayers Curse
General Summary
Solstice, Vera, and her new wolf companion Chaucer's training were interrupted by a giant constrictor snake. So they decided to head back to The Fool's Cup. The two gals came into the tavern covered in mud. However, this didn't stop Vera from fully introducing her new wolf companion to the party.
The party met up with Biorne at The Fool's Cup one last time before they left Everdine. While conversing with him, the party learned he is heading to The Tinker's Drink. He plans to stay with his sister Grudga. While the conversation was happening, Vera and Solstice decided to spend time mud wrestling, which confused Allen & Sullivan. Wincen was embarrassed by this but kept talking with Biorne. Wincen agreed if they found anything about who is killing members of the Brew Masters Order, they would report back to Biorne.
As the travelers left The Fool's Cup, they noticed an unsettling haze in the sky. Solstice looked at Wincen and asked, "Is this Rular's fault."
Rular responded to Wincen telepathically, "It wasn't me."
Wincen was surprised by this as he thought Rular finally passed on, and his new longbow was no longer sentient. He responded in fashion, "I thought you passed on?"
Rular stated, "I tried. Something is still preventing me from fully passing on."
This non-reassurance from Rular made things even more uneasy with the party. The party is now even more curious about the sky and is still trying to solving a series of murders. So the party continued their journey to Aceitunas to investigate the Mercenary Guilds location for any more clues.
The next day of travel, the party decided they were going to change up tasks. Allen was interested in leading the cart and horses on the first stretch to Aceitunas. Wincen, Solstice, and Sullivan attempted to gather herbs. Wincen found a bunch of Blue Toadshade. Unfortunately, they're in a pit of snakes. The others found four Arrow Roots. While they harvested the herbs and avoided the snakes, Vera was keeping watch. While on watch, she noticed two majestic unicorns trotting within the Everdine Forest. As the others returned to the cart, Vera told them about the unicorns. So the party attempted to approach them. They got the unicorns to stop and chat with them. The party learned that the unicorns were from the Continent of Vincrial. They were fleeing the continent because they refused to do something immoral. The party asked what the evil act was. They stated, "Our brother Ibara The Betrayer asked us to kill all the chosen ones of the Vow Tangible." The unicorns didn't feel comfortable chatting with the party. They felt like they needed to keep moving. Being hunted by their brother isn't fun. No sooner did they say, "We should get going." The party heard guttural neighing noises coming from the north.
A demon-looking unicorn with a fiery horn appeared in front of the party and the two unicorns. This creature also had with them a handful of albino dwarves. The party started to defend the unicorns and the attacks from the demon Ibara. Vera got a piercing horn attack straight to her back during the fight. The party botched, a successful defeat of Ibara. In a flicker of light, his avatar exploded, causing a majority of the party to be unconscious for a long time. The only ones left standing were Sullivan, Chaucer, and Solstice. The party awoke, and they learned that Ibara placed a Unicorn Curse on Vera. A curse that allows Ibara to check in on the bearer of the curse. The two unicorns only knew of one way to cure the curse, and that was with a potion made from unicorn blood. The party didn't want to hurt the unicorns and let them go, time to set off again.
