Genasi
They are the unthanked, the unknown saviors of Plumo. Fortunately, that’s exactly how they prefer to be remembered. Or in this case: Not remembered at all.
The fiercely independent Genasi guard the Pillars of Hyperopia, the conduit between the oceans of Plumo and pure, unadulterated Chaos. While representatives of their race can be found scattered over the face of the globe wherever the pull of their elemental type is strongest, it is the Water Genasi that hold the most sway over the fate of Plumo.
Living in ancient underwater caves, surrounded by relics of civilizations thought to be long extinct, the Genasi serve as silent guardians. Their population has been growing steadily since they banished the interdimensional crystalline creatures that threatened to rob sunlight from the planet. Their most recent population boom can be attributed to their connection to the All-Shoal. Their prosperity pilgrimages to the plains of Azu have been mutually beneficial: Their divine blessings aid the Merfolk and other races in the area, and in return, they take back a small portion of the increased bounty. This has been more than enough to fuel a generational explosion.
Just inside the Pillars of Hyperopia, a massive sea cave acts as the meeting place for the Elder Genasi. Called ‘The Intersection’, this meeting of seawater, lava, algae generated air, and shale is the most sacred of places in their cosmology. The Elemental Congress meets there regularly to discuss planetary and extra-planar issues alike.
