War of Ebonach, Second War of the Verum

The Conflict

Prelude

Four hundreds passed since Sereptra, the Great Betrayer was defeated at cataclysmic cost by the Elves of old and their Dwarven allies. Sereptra retreated to his ocean fortress to bide time and reforge his army of Krull. With Tita, the Progenitor creating The First Men, his children multiplied quickly. Two warlords, the twins Baccob and Kord, arose to lead mankind into an empire of their own. Tensions between the First Men and Elves bristled and fumed quickly, leading the Elves to consider humans as nothing more than barbaric animals that time would forget. Dwarves of Khaz Dugoth rushed to ally themselves with mankind.

Deployment

Kord received knowledge from scouts in the Frozen Wastes that a massive black shadow was rolling across the northern landscape and was heading to Ebonach with speed. Envoys were sent to both the Dwarves and Elves requesting aid, at this time they didn't know what was heading for them. The Dwarves marshaled a massive force to join Kords army in Ebonach while Baccob flew north on the back of a great Roc to slow the advance of the Krull using magic to manipulate the physical terrain. By the time the Krull advanced into Ebonach, the Dwarves and Men were waiting in battle formations.

Battlefield

Ebonach, a cold tundra landscape, was the first home of humanity and their first kingdom. Ruled by Baccob and Kord, twins. Scholars use the Battle of Coldvault Fields as a case study, to better understand fighting conditions during the War of Ebonach

Conditions

Sub zero temperatures, blizzards, arcane rain

The Engagement

The mass of Krull crashed against the battle lines in unison like a swarm of insects, inflicting horrendous casualties against Dwarves and Men. The Krull spent months attacking the lines, retreating and attacking once more. They sustained too many casualties to continue their assault and were forced to flee. The Krull lines broke and they began to behave like animals, fleeing in all directions, some toward the Greyhammer Peaks, others southward into the heart of Tel Morath. Yet, it was a diversion still, under the guise of powerful magic cast by Sereptra, the Great Betrayer himself, he disguised yet innumerable more Krull from Baccob. By sea the Krull came, submerged below the waves, where they then crashed against the great Emerald Gate of Navi Ren. For ten years they laid siege to the great The Kingdom of Ren, until they managed to crash through the great structure of the Emerald Gate, and began to flow into Green Bay and the Emerald Straits. It was up to the Kingdom of Ren and the few remaining tribesmen to battle against the tide of Krull, whilst Kord and Baccob had traveled south to destroy The Draugrwulf and his mighty army at Carnwrath.

Outcome

The surviving Krull resorted to little more than unorganized animals and were hunted down in the following decade after Sereptra, the Great Betrayers retreat.

Aftermath

The alliance between Dwarves and Men solidified to a legendary status. Seeing one another as brothers in arms. The Kingdom of Ebonach was abandoned and the land was declared forbidden. The arrival of the Throst, foul creatures of ice and arcane power cause concern among the Dwarves and Men. The Throst begin to settle the bloody battlefields in northern Kingdom of Tel Morath. Leading to the Conflict of Chill a hundred years later.

Strength

Legends state the Krull lines were 100,000 thousand wide and 10,000 deep. Totaling nearly a million Krull. Military anylysts find this difficult to believe, even more so the legends surround the Krull in the First war of the Verum. Where Krull numbers were told to top ten million. Fortunetly, many of Sereptra's leatutenants were either destroyed or wounded to a point where they could not participate in their dark masters call to battle. Only The Draugrwulf was able to answer the call to war, although he was deep in the south in Carnwrath.

Casualties

Nearly every Krull was destroyed by the alliance between the Dwarves of Khaz Dugoth and the The First Men of the Kingdom of Ebonach.

Objectives

Total war and extinction of mortality.
