Hered, Lich of the Peaks
Hered was a tormented soul, who hated himself for what he became by choice. Originally the court wizard of Amrosia, he desired more power than his mortal body could hold. Digging through ancient tomes long forgotten, he discovered the secrets to immortality, blindly ignoring the price he must pay to attain such power. Once he completed the change into lich, he could no longer taste or smell the world around him, leaving him bitter and disparaged. Over the centuries he tried many times to take his own life, yet knew the only way he could die was if he destroyed his phylactery, a feat that a lich cannot do.He purposely hid his phylactery within the bell tower of the abandoned mountain church. In a way, Hered wished worthy souls would come, and finally put an end to his cruel misery. The battle to defeat him was beyond close, and even resulted in Sarek, Wayguardian of the Shrines and Galdris Darkum dying. It was only by the parties sacrifice to keep Hered busy, that Finley and Farosh could wild shape into an air elemental to fly to the bell tower. It was there he shattered the phylactery, killing Hered once and for all.
