History
Construction began in 1690 and was completed in the spring of 1701. Fort Venator was unique in creation in that it rose in such a short time by the use of powerful magic. It was decided that a place to create and train Venators was needed for as long as the organization existed. Deciding on a location was difficult, as the most difficult to traverse and hidden locations in Vedania were thought of as its dark forests. Yet, a greater place had been discovered by Markus Fischer whilst looking for an appropriate site. He stumbled across a misty valley deeply entrenched in Mourning Soul Peaks, where its winters were brutally cold, game trails would be impassable and the air highly difficult to breathe. The high altitude mountain valley was not very far from the long since abandoned trade route that many years prior led through the mountains to the Sheikdom of Akatar.
"It was ancient and made of dark bricks, wooden doors, and had been through years of decay. The inside of the castle was covered in a thick layer of dust. Cobwebs almost as old as the castle were on every windowsill, even though there were no spiders to be found. All the rooms and corridors were empty except for the occasional decrepit chair or table placed in a corner. A great hall completed the eastern wing of the castle. Floor-length windows bordered the hall, letting in a lot of light, but they were so old that the glass distorted the outside world."
