Cruthanna Druids
The Cruthanna are guides, warriors and wanderers of Breovan. Respected and revered by all, even more so than the Lords of the Holdes. Their word is gospel and law. They guard the land from evil that would seek to destroy the Brevan people and even lands not of their own. The great Cruthanna Druids are little known outside of Breovan, but if one appears in a faraway land, stories are told of him for decades. They are masters of the wilds and magic, experts on curses and plagues and how to cure them. In battle, they are fearsome foes, taking the form of mighty bears and bringing the wrath of the heavens down upon their foes.
Structure
The Cruthanna are few in numbers, and are nearly never together. Their duties send them far and wide to aid Lords of Breovan, and even individual peasants that need guidance. The eldest Cruthanna lives at the Auchenrochs, where his duties are to guard the sacred site, and to await the arrival of the next Cruthanna.
Public Agenda
To guide the people of Breovan and maintain the state of the country. The Cruthanna have also been known to travel to places that are wracked by warfare, plague or famine. Whether at home in Breovan or abroad.
Divine Origins
Thousands of years ago, before the Brevan kept records or dates, a child was born under the cold December sky at midnight. Under the star formation Fafneir, the great dragon, the child exhibited great power. He was able to bend the forests and highlands to his will and take the form of a great bear whenever he so chose. Since then, whenever a child is born in December at midnight, when Fafneir is most visible, it is born a Cruthanna. The child is then taken to the Auchenrochs, where the first child was born to be blessed by the order of Druids.
Worship
Worship occurs beneath oak trees at sunrise. The Cruthanna lay rings of stone around the trunk and pray to Obad-Hai.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The Cruthanna are highly revered and respected by all Brevan, who see them as divinely chosen to guide their people in times of peace and strife. The lords of Breovan may have the control of the Holdes but it is the Cruthanna who must bless the lords should they choose to wish to make war, marry or sire children. The Cruthanna are the ones who truly control Breovan, as it has always been and always will be.
