Barony of Latislarn
Formed in 1240 out of necessity. With the Royal Draugen Empire expanding to as many isles and inlets withing the Crista Islands, Avalon knew they needed to do the same to avoid be surrounded and overwhelmed. The continent of Valencourt was ripe for the taking, with massive jungles of hardwood waiting to be harvested. The Council of Sail decreed to send a large detachment of settlers to occupy the southern shores of Valencourt to begin harvesting wood that could be easily shipped across the Straits of Avencourt. With this new settlement came continuous supplies for the Avalon shipyards, with the quality of this wood being considered the best found anywhere south of the Crista Islands.
The Barony is known as a beautiful place to live, with unique artistic influences of not only Avalon but also the Kingdom of Alamor. Splashes of olive green and royal purples, to vibrant tans make up the capitol of Latislarn. Although beautiful, the Barony is always at odds with the Royal Draugen Empire, finding themselves frequently under blockade by the empire. Although they are vastly overwhelmed by the sheer number of active Draugen fleets, nonetheless they people of Latislarn fight furiously. They pay homage and fealty to Avalon, supplying them with roughly 30 percent of materials to build the imposing Avalonian fleets. Latislarn maintains a well trained levy army that patrols and defends the south western shores of the continent, and frequently repel petty invasions from the Draugen Empires' vassal state of Nightfall, and their smaller vassal, the Fiefdom of the Blades.
The Barony is ruled by a council of six 'Elector Barons', who hold power of the six seperate districts of the Barony. Each are responsible for different aspect of the government; military, logistics, production, civil, infrastructure and foreign diplomacy.
