Kingdom of Polaris

The Kingdom of Polaris is the northernmost human kingdom located in Lyardia. The lands they claim include the Polar Islands, the Cardinal Tundra, the Conquered Steppe, the northern half of the Boundary Mountains, the Cryic Valley Pass, the Coastal Mountains, and the surrounding waters.

Territories

The territories of the Kingdom of Polaris broadly encompass the lands of the ancient Bountiful Khanate. The current Crown Family claims to be descendants of the legendary Mundik Khan, the founder of the Bountiful Khanate and first elemental to harness a Unicorn.

Excluded from the ancestral lands of the Bountiful Khanate are the Polar Islands. Historically inhabited by people of Aurit heritage, the Kingdom of Polaris exerts little real control over the Islands, with only one decent sized city, Farstay, and little interest in the fish and Salamanders of the North.

Education

The Pole-Star Kingdom is a country of efficiency and delegation, all built to work like a machine by the Monarch Hawk Khan, First of His Name.
Children start their schooling at age six in local centers, before moving on to trade schools at age thirteen. At age then, children start doing small jobs for small pay, like sweeping buildings, melting snow, or running errands for the elderly, usually for around two Pieces a day.
Once youths move onto trade schools in the cities, they will take several aptitude tests to see which jobs they will do best in. Many trade schools pride themselves on the quality of their alumni; the Kite School for Earthen Architects and the Crow Academy of Alloy Blacksmiths are the two most prestigious schools in New Winterkeep.
