Faded Forest
This forest of pine and other evergreens gets its name because of the mist and fog that creep in from the coast, making navigation difficult on even the best of days.
This forest is patrolled by wood elves, who fiercely hunt orcs and other monsters that wander into the forest from the High Moor. However, even the elves can only protect a small fraction of the forest at any one time.
The Faded Forest is the home of the elven city Ilminaris, mysteriously shunted from the Feywild many years ago. The elves, alfar, gnomes of the forest are somewhat friendly with the citizens of Hawkmoon, not having faced the trials of their kin in the Tuathwold.
Due to the influence of the Rindalros clan, and the elven king of Laughing Hollow, the elves of the Faded Forest consider the Laughing Vale and the Dimmeroch family as a staunch ally. Elves agree to serve in the Owlshead Militia, and the militia has come to the aid of the elves in the southern portions of the forest when needed. There are many alfar villages just within the eaves of the forest who facilitate trade and communication between the elves of the interior and the human realms which surround the forest.
Arcanists believe that the Veil between Arith and the Feywild is thin here, and the forest teems with fey creatures, giving the whole area a sense of enchantment and mystery. While Ilminaris is the only true city in the forest, most elves live in small family clans throughout the forest. The elven nobility who choose not to live in the City of Dreams tend to build hunting lodges and estates.
An elder Forest Dragon and its progeny are said to inhabit the southern portions of the forest, and giant spiders are a constant threat. Humanoid threats include the orcs who raid the entire vale, along with goblins and hobgoblins.
