The young captain of the SS Penguin merchant vessel, Mal has traveled across Valoris shipping cargo to anywhere & for anyone. He has a keen eye and keener wit, but keeps his cards close to his chest; the scion of House Everlune has a lot to lose.
  After the last two sinkings of his ships, Mal has come to Veil's End to work as Chief Financial Officer of the Ranch. If asked about the sudden career change, he'd respond that he was "gently" persuaded, and that the folks at the Ranch have been so kind while he gets back onto his feet.
