Between between, the purple velvet of heaven and hell
Between between, body and mind may wander
Between between, a sign of allegiance to the void that calls
Between between, can you tell which is the dream anymore?
Wearing this ring brings you in twain during the time of slumber. To wear this ring and to be split in twain is the gateway to the other side, to the incorporeal form, your soul detached from the body. From here, it's easy to bring your soul to in-between the realms.
To be between the realms is dangerous, as you may wind up lost. A sea of lost memories and entropic nightmares awaits just beneath the Yggdrasil, where you can be lost forever. But to explore this great sea of darkness is a chance to find knowledge and power beyond that of normal ability.
If the body expires, your soul will forever be trapped between the realms, forever unable to reform within the original realm without assistance or power. When this happens, a soul may be considered lost.
When he broke, he created this ring. He thought it would allow for him to find what he lost, perhaps. Perhaps. Perhaps! What a joke. When he couldn't find what he wanted, he broke off all ties. He thinks our regency had cost him everything, and he only felt rage in his blood.
We took it, and we hold it as our own. If a body needs to be gone, we can use the ring. After all, death is considered to be a long sleep.
For them, it becomes a long bad dream. One they can never wake up from.
