Barrier

To put it simply, a Barrier is formed by channeling Mana into light itself. Even the dim light of a firefly can be enough to create a strong barrier! When a barrier is created, it can act as a solid surface of any shape and size. Particularly skilled Arcanists can create a massive barrier that covers a town up, if they wanted. The more Mana that is transferred into the Barrier, the stronger it is.

Barriers can be given multiple layers for extra protection, of which requires more Mana to be poured into it. Although this can be a costly maneuver depending on the size of the Barrier, it has helped various Arcanists in combat against giant beasts and particularly powerful foes.

Barriers are rather flexible in what they can be used for. Alongside acting as a means of protection from projectiles and attacks, one can cast a barrier that can completely enshroud someone, trapping them within it. Barriers can also be resized as well, though this would use up a lot of Mana for the caster. Barriers can also move in a third-dimensional space, allowing for one to quickly adjust their defenses or to ride around on them.

Barriers can be ingrained into Edenite gems, which can be implemented into staffs or other devices, such as Autobarrier Casters. During one particular war in Terra Eclipsis, soon after the Deepcore Foundation began secretly bringing weapons in from Earth, a few Elves managed to make a variation on the common flash-bang grenade that would involve the formation of a barrier. When thrown, these grenades could instantaneously form a barrier where they exploded.
