World Tour

Just goes to show how narrow the definition of a world is for many. Even those of high status.
Once a religious ceremony representing the voyage from across all of Ordonian lands to the Misty Falls, it was taken by rich noble scions and turned into...I do not even know what to call it anymore. One never-ending party? A way to show off? A ritual of becoming a proper dirtbag?   The young Ardenian nobles are particularly fond of it. They form large groups and go from one pleasure town to another, partying and spending their parents' money like it is the end of the world. Would be less of a problem if they stayed within the Ardenian lands - and have the gall to claim it was a "tour across the entire world", but nowadays they even make it to the New World! Usually only to Sol Meridia, of course, and then back home boasting to have visited those "muddy colonies inhabited by savages".   So why do we care? Mostly, because those young nobles tend to land themselves in trouble more often than not. I mean, a lot of trouble. Enough trouble to cause international scandals, never mind internal conflicts between noble families. Two noble gentlemen get into a fight over a noble lady, and now three powerful families are at each others' throats. These tourists even started a war once!
I am no tourist, I am an honest traveller!
You can probably guess now where the word "tourist" comes from. Yes, it was originally used to describe the kind of people to go on a World Tour - and generally in quite a negative connotation. The term is increasingly used for all kind of travellers nowadays, but keep in mind that calling someone a tourist to their face can be perceived as quite rude or even insulting.
