Starlit Mushrooms

Yeah, sure. Teleporting. Sounds like the words of someone who has drunk a bit too much.
Who here never dreamt of being able to make their journey go by quicker? That is why we invented carriages, built sturdy roads, created new and faster ships and started packing plenty of wine for the trip. For some people, that is still not enough. They try to invent ways to fly like a bird, or ride upon iron horses. Others, more heretically inclined ones, dream of travelling by means of sorcery. This legend falls squarely within the second group.   So it goes - hidden in the caves of the New World, there grows a special type of mushroom. Its cap is shaped like a star, and has a slight glow in the dark. If you were to eat the mushroom and go to sleep, who knows where you shall come awake. From there comes its second name, the Teleporting Mushrooms.

Variations & Mutation

As it usually is with any legend as unprovable as this is, there are countless theories on what actually happens when you eat the mushroom. Does it actually move you through space, and what of all the stories of people going moving through time itself? Can you control where you were to appear? Is it really you that wakes up, and not an evil spirit that has taken up your shape? Most importantly, what happens if you eat a mushroom but do not go to sleep?   And then there is the sceptic camp. Many just completely discard the whole idea as absurd. Others, chiefly from among the clergy of the Church of Three Prophets, equate eating one of such mushrooms with submitting your soul to Chaos himself and thus being sent to good law-abiding lands to spread panic in his name. The most reasonable explanation? The only supernatural quality about those mushrooms is just how hallucinogenic they truly are.

Hey! Great article! How many mushrooms does it generally take for the effects to 'work'? And have people tried experimenting with higher quantities?
