Crackers the Parrot
Are we seriously writing articles on parrots now? Dear Lord, how low have I fallen. Many people have an unhealthy level of obsession over cute animals. Okay, that I can at least somewhat understand. But why would people choose to obsess over a parrot known for nothing but saying "Crack!" like some sort of magic word, whether the situation is appropriate or not? That is beyond me. Now, the alleged reasons why people take such interest in this parrot are usually much more intriguing and mysterious. So much that they could seldom be taken seriously, and do not seem to be talking about a single parrot to begin with. Is this just one of those fashion things?

Personal history
First things first, if that was not clear from the name Crackers is a known pirate companion. I mean, most of captains mentioned were technically privateers but there is little difference between the two nowadays. I say "mentioned" because I have heard the name of Crackers being mentioned in pair with at least three dozen different captains, spread throughout more than a century. Still think that is a single parrot?
Some say that Crackers passes from one captain to another whenever he finds a more talented and prospecting one. Or is passed along, like some sort of inheritance. It could actually be a series of parrots, if stories did not sometimes attribute Crackers to several different captains at once. Then again, pirate captains have their own sense of fashion too - perhaps having such a parrot was simply popular once upon a time? Hard to tell.
Employment
Whatever his background might be, nowadays Crackers is most often known in conjunction with Kent Buckler, a young scion from Sol Meridia and a self-proclaimed pirate captain. I mean, hard not to notice a weird parrot when one is brought into the high society on a regular basis and yells "Crack!" at nobles and commoners alike. Or at least Captain Kent claims it is Crackers - for all we know it is some random parrot that he bought alongside his ship from a real and deeply drunk captain.
