Since the merging of the material and spiritual world due to
Extinction, a lot of the food and plants found in the world became things that were never seen before, one of the examples being
Weird fruits. Those new, spiritual plants can have many unusual properties, some of which can affect the body of anyone who consumes them. Since many of those properties are still unknown and many people don't want to risk their health or their lives by eating them, they started to look for ways to make them safe to eat. And the most popular way to do that is to
deweird the plants and turn them back to what they were before
The Curtain fell. While the process of deweirding can be carried out by anyone, to ensure the highest level of efficiency, chance of success, and the least amount of risk, the deweirders, specialists in this domain, can be hired.
Who is a deweirder
To become a deweirder, one just needs to study the ways of turning spiritual materials into their normal, pre-Extinction counterparts. There are many ways to do that, some simple, some complicated, some working only on specific things, and some universal but requiring a lot of time and resources. Additionally, there are some spiritual plants that can reverse the process of deweirding and instead "infect" and change the plants that already went through it. Those are all things that the aspiring deweirder will have to learn in order to fulfill their duties.
Depending on the community, a deweirder might be completely unneeded, a helpful person, or someone absolutely needed for the settlement to work properly or to survive.
There are no ranks, but some deweirders will take on apprentices to pass on their knowledge to, either to spread their knowledge or to help more settlements. Mentorship like that can last between weeks and years, depending on the accumulated knowledge of the mentor and how quickly they decide to pass it on to others.
