Moonglow Moth
Splitting up and going on a separate way from his Mothwalker friend, Alexy started following the glowing moths his new pal sent with him to guide him to safety. They flew just slow enough for him not to be left behind and they were shining bright enough that he was safe from Dark Hall's of Teeth Darkness. Only when walking so close to them, he had a chance to notice the patterns on their tiny wings.Moonglow moths are a species of moth showing up only in the Dark Halls. In most cases, swarms of them accompany Mothwalkers during their pilgrimage, but they can also be encountered in the wild, both as a swarm and single individuals. Contrary to most of the species of that realm, they thrive in light and even produce it. Friendly mothwalkers might send a group of them with someone as their escort and even the wild swarms sometimes decide to join humans who they start to recognize as potential sources of light.
Basic Information
Growth Rate & Stages
For their reproduction, moonglow moths require Halls with constant natural or artificial sources of light, especially if said source is centralized within one spot. Finding areas like that, they create the nests that will house thousands of eggs that will soon become caterpillars and then, the next generation of adult moths. They don't require any diet and instead grow and thrive in areas with light. Once they go through their metamorphosis, groups of adult moonglow moths will leave their nest, beginning their migration that will end once they find a good spot for their own nest. Once the moonglow moths lay their eggs, all of the adults of a swarm die out.
Additional Information
Domestication
It is possible for humans to have a mutually positive relationship with moonglow moths that is a little similar too their interaction with mothwalkers. Should someone enter the area of the nest with a light source, no matter how small, it will be almost certain that at least one swarm of moths will start to follow that light source. From now on, as long as the light source won't be extinguished, the moths will always follow it, no matter what.
For the moths, it feeds them, preventing them from dying. And people gain a powerful source of light. Especially since the light source initially used to attract the moths could be a barely visible, weak one that requires very little amount of energy. To avoid being spotted with those "moth lanterns" one can enclose the light source within a box big enough for moths to fly inside, which will let out the light only in the desired direction.
It is important to remember that about a year after the moths reach adulthood in their nest, they will only accompany the lantern for one year, after which they will start to look for a place for their own nest.
