The Rain Beasts of North

The shamanic tabaxi of the north belive that the beasts that appear once a year are a test of nature so they can prove their right to live within the forest.

Structure

Revered leader

The leader of the cult, he is the one who foresees the appearance of the next beast and tells the tribe to move, he is also the one who chooses among the hunters who volunteered to hunt down the beast.

Stalkers

Stalkers are the choosen hunters who track down the beasts in the valley and bring it down, they will oversee the smaller aspects of life in the tribe on the following year.

Culture

The followers of the Great Beasts belive themselves to be equals to nature, and that its their roles to be the predators within it, usually friendly to visitors but fiersome fighters, it's said that their nomadic tribe is impossible to track, and you can't find them unless they want to be found.

History

The cult has a oral tradition that says that when the tabaxi first set foot on the forest they couldn't manage to stay too long on a single place, it was as if nature whitered wherever they went, until they discovered a great beast rooming the fields nearby, after hunting it down there was a downpour for one whole week, and the lands around the area became fertile and vibrant, since them, every year they hunt down one of those beasts in the forest and migrate to the area of the hunt once it's over.

Mythology & Lore

It's said that the ancestors struggled against the land, always moving between borders and trying to find somewhere they could really make it their home, they plead to the nature to find somewhere, and nature awnsered with roaring thunder, the ancestors were afraid at first but they found on the thunder a beast, a gigantic creature flying through the forest knocking trees down, leaving ozone and steam on it's trail, the ancestors decided that if left unchecked the beast would destroy the forest and hunted it down, when the killing blow was dealt, the beast went up to the skies and it's steam-like body dissipated and became clouds, darker and darker, and a rain like it haven't been seen before started, they found shelter in a cave and waited for it to pass, afraid that it might last forever they feared for their lives, but after a week, as suddenly as it started, it ended, and when they left the cave it was like the florest was welcoming them, a vibrant green had grown all around it, the trees destroyed by the beast had been almost entirely taken by moss and mushrooms, the sun brimming through the treetops seemed to show a place for them to settle down, and thus the ritual of hunting began.

Tenets of Faith

The Rain Beasts are a sacred test of nature of our faith and worthy, they must be hunted and killed as the ritual demands, and their power returned to nature, never used for selfish purpose.

Worship

The main ritual of worshipping happens once a year when the hunt is done, but besides that you can show your respect by nature by meddling as little as possible with it, don't disturb the creatures when you pass, and only attack if needed, but if you do need, make sure to attack first, you must show your worthy as a predator by not backing down from your fights.

Don't fear the storm.
