Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Referenced as a "daughter of the trees," Katla was most likely Savi üshme rather than Brunas, but her coloration and presentation throughout history has reinforced her humanity. Many pro-unicorn scholars assume this discrepancy is due to Katla's preference for blending into human society rather than retaining her heritage.
Facial Features
Known for being impassive and unemotional.
Special abilities
Had a greatly reduced ability to feel pain. Was renowned for fighting past the point of exhaustion and injury.

Personal history
The first stories of Katla originate near the founding of Westerheim. At the time, humans were new to the continent and attempts to settle the region frequently resulted in attack by native creatures, including what are described as dragons. Contemporary writings suggest massive serpents or some other form of legless reptile that has since gone extinct.
Katla is one of the first recorded dragon-slayers, first sighted outside Valica in Rair Peak while fighting one of these serpents, a terrifying beast eighteen feet long and with a head the size of a large pig. Her appearance is detailed in The Blank's First Battle, an epic poem written in Old Ladi. After struggling with the beast for hours, she finally slew it by cleaving its head between the eyes and leaving her sword embedded in the earth beneath it. Her strength was described as formidable and she was welcomed into the town for celebration for several days afterward.
Several other epics are written about Katla's adventures spanning her lifetime to approximately 42 AW. The final tale is The Blank and the Sun. In this story, Katla battles a truly massive specimen described as taller than a house with great wings that darkened the sky and a golden star on the back of its horrible black head. The poet frequently makes allusions between this serpent and the Serpent of Gav Mowai writings, suggesting this may have been an even greater battle between a blessed saint and the forces of darkness. After sustaining many horrible wounds, Katla finally slew the snake and fell down to die with her sword still embedded in his forehead.
