Sintzi

While the sundering brought many strange and wondrous new creatures and peoples to The Isles, two thousand years have passed since then, and they are now as much a part of the isles as those who were native to this world. The insect like Sintzi however, are a more recent addition, having fallen from the sky just over fifty years ago.   They crash landed on the largest of a small grouping of isles known as The Karsts, due the rock formations which covered them, which was home to a few hundred souls. Those few who actually managed to escape their former home, told wild tales of huge, flying insects that carried strange pistols that shot fire and lightning. One claimed to have seen one of them eat his neighbour.   Reports from the few brave scouts who have managed to spy on the Sintzi, say they have taken up home in the tops of the karsts, carving homes into the gigantic stone pillars. There are no steps or ladders leading to these chambers, for each of the inhabitants can fly. Large cargo lifts ascend the sides of the karsts carrying supplies from the ground to the various levels of these cliffside towns.   Their language seems to be quite complex, involving several different methods of communication, including clicking of mandibles, antennae movement, and perhaps some kind of telepathy or hive mind, as at times they seem to act in concert without any outward sign of communication. They seem to have a structured social hierarchy, with those who carry out the manual labour seemingly at the bottom of the pecking order, not dissimilar to our own society.   They seem to have no need for clothing, one would assume this is because they are covered in a hard carapace, though they do adorn themselves in other ways. Some members of their society carve patterns into their carapace, it is not known whether this demarks a particular group or whether it is just individual preference. It was also noted, much to the horror of the one who witnessed it, that their "warrior class" decorate the skulls of those they have killed and wear them as head ornaments.
