Stone bands

People of Waysol wears some kind of band with a stone encased. Inside the city, the purpose of the accessory is to display which school of magic they are most attuned to, as well as a way to always have a source of energy at hands.

Crafting

The band can be of any sort, and worn anywhere, even hidden, although that is only rarely done. It is a source of pride, and most inhabitants of Waysol would rather go to great lengths to match their outfits to the stone than conceal it. The appearance of the bands may evolve to follow fashion or reflect the identity of their wearers, but its structure and position usually stays the same throughout their lives.

Children wear regular leather bands, mostly as bracelets or bandanas. When they come of age, each teenager has to craft their own, tailored to their liking. Most of them go for leather or fabric, but some like to push the concept of band as far as they can: rings and circlets, necklaces or even more exotic jewelry.

In some rare cases, they have to be remade from scratch to integrate additional stones, although people seem to prefer setting the gems on rings or crafting a new band instead, leaving only one on display.

Travelling abroad

Inhabitants of Waysol seldom go outside their home city, for the world has rejected them and they did the same. Some, however, take the risk just for a trip or several years. In the hostile outside world, stone bands are a way to recognise their own. They may not wear their bands as ostensibly outside of major cities though, as the embedded gem looks very valuable no matter how you look at it, even ignoring its magical potential.
