Personal history

Most of Muirins childhood was spent with her running about and playing in New Harbours waters, and helping her parents on their sailing vessel. As she grew she was taught the ways of the water, sailing, fishing, and how to live off of the water. Being a water genasi meant that she and her parents were naturals when it came to life at sea, and eventually she worked side by side with her parents on their ship. When she reached adulthood she spent a few stints running on other fishing vessels, as well as helping with expeditions to retrieve lost goods and treasures from the bottom of the river Knotside and out in the bay that leads into Waylia.   Muirins kindness became well known amongst the docks, and her skills were considered invaluable and highly sought after. Eventually her parents allowed her to take command of their ship, and she hired her own small crew of close friends. She ran salvage missions up and down the river, a small team of genasi from the New Harbour district scraping by a living on the water. On their travels far into Waylia via the river Fairknot, she had a gut feeling, as if the water was telling her where to go. She led the small ship up a part of the river that branched off and was unmarked on their map, insisting to her tiny crew of friends that at the end of this was greatness. As if following a call from the waters depths themselves she expertly sailed them into a lake deep within a hidden grove. As they pulled in the sail she leapt into the waters without a second thought. At the bottom of this hidden lake she found an ancient wreck, a strange looking ship made of materials she could not recognize. A hole had been punctured in the side, the material melted and twisted into an opening that surely caused the ships demise.   Within this sunken ship Muirin found treasure upon treasure. Gold, gems, trading bars with an unknown insignia, as well as surprisingly well preserved weapons and other artifacts. Muirin and her crew hauled all their little ship could carry, as well as a few chunks of the ship itself, before sailing back to Knotside. Her and her friends became rich as they sold off the gold and gems, and brought the artifacts to the palace to be studied. She drew on a map where the branch off was supposed to be, give or take a few hundred feet, but despite multiple expeditions the side river was not to be found.   Muirin and her parents live comfortably now in New Harbour, and Muirins tale of rising to fame allowed her to easily be voted into office as a Magister. Muirin herself has never tried to find the river again, but she tells that what she and her crew grabbed that day is but a minuscule fraction of what was left on the strange vessel. A fortune greater than even what is hidden in the Palace vaults surely lies hidden there, if only someone can follow the song of the river like she had. Now however she is content to stay Magister, refusing and turning away any who try to convince her to take up the sails once more in search of the hidden treasure, lest they have less than good ideals.
