Akrea, Goddess of Beasts
The Goddess of Beasts is known well in her legends for her shape shifting abilities, often taking the forms of various animals to test the heart and soul of adventurers. In many stories rich, haughty, or generally rude characters come across a wounded animal. Sometimes a deer with its leg caught in a snare, a lynx stuck at the bottom of a pit, or a large bird with its wing trapped, or simply a stray dog or cat begging for food or shelter in a rainstorm. Those who took pity on the animal and aided it as best they could were given blessings from Akrea, and those who were cruel were often cursed and transformed into the very animals they abused.
It is often said Akrea takes dominion over The Beastlands plane, where nature and wild animals are abundant, and ones natural basic instincts take over. Those who live off the land feel at home in her plane, and it is said that her followers who achieve her blessing are brought here in death to live in the beauty of nature and to have the thrill of an endless hunt. Those who have incurred her ire or have been cursed by her are brought here as polymorphed animals, now the prey of the hunt.
