War Dogs

The Milky Way galaxy is home to murderous beings, ones who vie for control over petty kingdoms and mere parcels of land. Nation-States fight for dominance in an ever-changing game where the ones who do not adapt are quickly left behind and taken into the influence of their rivals. Violence is a mere tool of the state to control its peoples and to gain an edge over those who oppose them. The most powerful of these nation-states are the four Great Powers. In the galactic south lies the Imperium of Cevasia, a realm once ruled by nobility and ran by peasants which is now undergoing a transformation into a more centralized system of government. To the galactic east lies the Union of Communal Republics, a federation of leftist worlds that each have their own idea on how to run their people, but who all unite to spread their influence across the galaxy. To the galactic north is the Union of Kotari, a multicultural federal republic run on the ideas of freedom, liberty, and equality, at least on paper. Finally, to the galactic west lies the Rokal Trading Alliance, a legalized corporatocracy that uses regional and planetary governments to do its dirty work for them and to not waste their profits on trivial matters like state security or public services. For a while the galaxy was in a state of bliss, unless you fight the wars for your country life was pretty good, sure the local government or lord might tax you exorbitant amounts, but considering that there were no galactic threatening events occurring, no economic crashes that ruined the entirety of galactic society, and that the galactic community had kept the peace from preventing the Great Powers from going into open conflict with each other. Then the Humans got added to the galactic community. Stereotyped for being incredibly aggressive, greedy, and carrying all sorts of diseases, Mankind can either experience genuine respect or great scorn in certain parts of the galaxy. In an era of interventions into unwilling states by the Great Powers there exists a need for a species that has a certain ingenuity to them in the art of war and doesn't shy away from ethically or legally questionable acts. These are War Dogs, words used by the various races of the galaxy to describe unscrupulous individuals who can be polar opposites in their ideologies and reasonings, but are united in their methods, unethical as they are. We've run out of saints to nail to crosses and drown, might as well make the most out of our sins.
