The Treaders

The Treaders having been uncovered in 2028 have changed the galaxy tremendously. While they are sentient synthetic lifeforms, they are considered the largest soldiers within many states around the galaxy. The Treaders range from 12 to 60 feet tall though average at around 20 to 35 feet in height. They are considered armor rather than individual soldiers and frequently take larger weapons into battle, weapons once thought to only be carried on ACV's and Starships. The Treaders and their genocidal cousins, the Tohn, are the remnants of a precursor race that inhabited part of the southwestern quadrant of the galaxy who were fighting a losing war against their rogue servants. The Treaders were created to put an end to the Tohn but were too late to be of any effective use as the Tohn had choked the Treader's home world of Viikal (vie-kal) in neurotoxins. Fortunately, the precursors had uploaded a virus into the Tohn mainframe putting them into a 2000-year slumber, likewise the Treaders who were put into a similar 2000-year nap had not known who their creators were or even their original name. When an expedition party from the Imperium had discovered them the single custodian treader named Cul had allowed them to give sentience to the rest of his species as the Tohn were not a threat to the galaxy at large and their sole purpose was almost non-existent. The Treaders now roam the galaxy and have been quick to be integrated into many nation-states as soldiers for their armies, interestingly the Humans and the Treaders seem to be drawn toward each other given their similar backgrounds as soldiers. The Treaders assimilate quite well with other species, probably due to very few people wanting to shit talk a 3-story tall behemoth of metal. Of course, prejudice is a common thing in the Milky Way and many face some sort of discrimination ranging from avoidance to getting sent on more dangerous missions that others. Time will tell how well the Treaders fit into galactic society.
