Tower of Death

In places in Warsu, people can find hills that are flattens with a ring at the top. These areas are called towers of death. Many of the people in Warsu are followers of Velena and while she has brought them victory, so has she brought them death.    The followers of Velena in Warsu do not trust necromancy as they have seen the curse it has spread on their land (ie Phantom Lands). Dead bodies are considered unclean and potential pollutants to both earth and fire. As such, on elevated surfaces such as hills or man-made towers is where they place their dead. This is a similar practice seen in other sky burials such as places as @Paidia.    Dead bodies are carefully moved to the towers usually via magic to prevent touching them. The bodies are exposed to the sun and often birds such as vultures that feed on the flesh. Once the flesh has been eaten and the sun has bleached the bones, the body can be moved to the catacombs underneath the tower where all the bones are carefully placed. This has been going on for a couple of hundred years and all offerings are made to Velena.
