Story of Drevil and Nirith

Drevil Lucibouth and Nirith Nonan were born on the exact same day, only a few minutes apart. Nirith was born first, golden locks of hair. Drevil was born a few minutes later with curly red hair. The Lucibouth and Nonan were neighbors and friends. They were ecstatic to share this special day with each other. Thus, Drevil and Nirith were raised as pretty much siblings.    The two friends were both High Elf and their connection to the arcane networks was deep. It was said elves at this time were born with the feywild in their veins. Nirith was gifted in magic. The words on the old tomes were easily absorbed by Nirith. He was a prodigy.    Meanwhile, Drevil struggled. He couldn't even manage the basic spells. Even with Nirith's help, Drevil fell behind. Nirith continued to make headlines without his best friend. Nirith tried to include Drevil but a rift grew and they drifted more and more apart. Eventually, Nirith was offered as the magical noble advisor. Drevil, devastated and jealous, wandered into the woods for some peace. After an hour, he realized he had no idea where he was at. When the panic overtook him, he heard a soothing voice.    Drevil, hoping for shelter and a guide, followed the voice to a clearing. A gorgeous woman with dark black hair greeted him with a smile. She knew that Drevil was troubled and so they sat and talked for a bit. Drevil spilled his story with the stranger and wept in front of her. The woman calmed him down and also offered him a gift. If she could do him a favor, she'd gift him enough magic and perhaps surpass even his friend. Drevil, having befriended this stranger and seeing nothing else, She asked him simply to bring back Nirith's spell book. Only for a time. He could return it after a bit. As a gift, she gave him a sample of her offer.    Drevil returned home with the woman's guidance and magic after that. The next day, he could feel the woman's gift. He rushed to Nirith to show off his new powers before he left. Nirith was hesitant but happy for his friend. He warned Drevil that magic does not come without a price. Nirith's price was the hours of training. Drevil lashed out at his friend who seemed to have everything. He shoved Nirith and Nirith fell. His head hit a sharp rock and his blood spilled on the earth. Drevil, not meaning to kill his best and childhood friend, quickly grabbed Nirith's book and ran into the woods. He searched all day for the woman. It was twilight and he had almost given up when he heard her voice singing.     Drevil, once he reached the woman, begged for her to bring his friend back. She declined but gifted him with all the power to do it himself. She took Nirith's spellbook before disappearing into the thick woods. Drevil mourned the death of his friend and guilt and shame ate him away. He tried to study the books of Nirith for answers, yet he could not understand the tomes. When the authorities came to question Drevil about Nirith's death, they found him sleeping on books of necromancy and raising the dead. Drevil's eyes were black and sunken in. The authorities knew immediately what he had done, he had made a pact.     Drevil would die and live within the cold walls of his cell. It is said that he died of guilt that day, hearing the laughter of the woman. Yet, the story of Drevil and Nirith continues on. The story of Drevil and Nirith is told when speaking about the Archives and their goals.
