Osarian Sign Language
"If we hadn't a voice or a tongue, and wanted to express things to one another, wouldn't we try to make signs by moving our hands, head, and the rest of our body, just as dumb people do at present?"Osarian Sign Language and Sign Language in general in Nesia has a long history. Sign Language was a non-verbal way of communication and was even included in ways of magic. Sign languages are full-fledged natural languages with their own grammar and lexicon. The Osarian Sign Language has its own dialect and lexicon compared to other countries. Prior to the Empire, sign language was used to help communicate races that did not share a language. Most notably this was through the Human groups and the pureblood Yuan-Ti as the Yuan-Ti were able to pick up on the human gestures quicker. This was spread to other races from the Yuan-Ti. As such, the sign language was developed more as a bridge language between the Southern races in what is now the Osarian Empire. Osarian Language seems to be a lot more influenced by Draconic and the Yuan-Ti, with more fluid gestures and hard, concise starts. Some sign the movements of Osarian Sign Language parallel with the movements of snakes and other lizards in the Osarian Empire. The human variant seems to be more expressive in the face and Air Genasi that are found in the open deserts of the Empire are known to make a lot of wider gestures.- Socrates
