Types of Magic Classes

Origin of Magic

Since the beginning of time magic has been a powerful force capable of awesome feats that were otherwise impossible. In ancient times types of magic could be divided into four catagories. Divine magic of the gods, the dragons' song magic, gigantic rune magic, and heart magic.
Gods were the first beings known to use magic, they can even channel their power through items of other creatures. The dragons developed magical skills through their mystical songs. Giants invented a new way to weave the fabric of magic by using runes written surfaces and objects. These magic are the three original practices of magic. Heart magic describes any form of innate magic that a creature might have.
In modern times magic, although uncommon, has become a part of nearly every culture. Most practices of magic aren't a pure form of ancient magic practice, but they are a modification or combination of ancient practices. Modern magic practices are typically taught to students by masters.

Bard

The magic of bards is learned directly from dragons and is closely resembles ancient practices of song magic. A bard uses spoken words, melodies, and instruments to shape magic. Bards typically keep their ears open, ready to listen to new stories of adventures and magic, either just for the sake of a good story or to expand their repertoire.

Cleric

A cleric is a conduit of divine magic from one of the gods. The gods pick a select few individuals among their followers to bestow a blessing of divine magic. Clerics are almost always among the most devoted followers who exemplify the ideals that the religion is preaching.

Druid

Druids have a special connection with the world that they inhabit. A druid is a conduit of divine magic power channeled by the world itself and not a god. No matter the druid's affiliations with other druids or more civilized cultures, a druid uses magic to protect the balance of nature.

Paladin

The magic of a paladin comes from a strong personal oath. Some creatures have dormant heart magic that can be triggered by a personal oath (a unique type of song spell). A paladin's actions, personality, and beliefs often revolve around their individual oath, and their magic helps accomplish their goals.

Ranger

A ranger etches runes into their equipment to produce magical effects. This magic class is derived from the limited information known about rune magic and is a precursor to arcane magic. Those who learn this magic have to be taught from another and the various letters and combinations of runes take study and practice to use effectively.

Sorcerer

A sorcerer has heart magic from magic in their bloodline or an event that infused magic into their body. Because of the nature of heart magic, sorcerers can shape their spells to make unique effects that other spell casters can't. On the flip side, the magic can be unwieldy. So sorcerer needs to constantly balance how they use their magic.

Warlock

A warlock uses magic that is given to them by a creature with great power. The pact between a warlock and their patron depends on a case-by-case circumstance, but it usually involves the patron giving the warlock magic in exchange for occasional services. In many cultures, becoming a warlock is often taboo and can have serious repercussions.

Wizard

Those who cast magic via arcane arts are wizards. Arcane magic is a carefully constructed class of magic that takes inspiration from song magic and rune magic. The arcane arts are the newest form of magic and still relatively young, so it doesn't come naturally it has to be earned by an enormous amount of time and effort.
