Tideborne Shellon

Tideborne Shellon

(Children of the Current)

Overview

The Tideborne Shellon are the seafarers, mystics, and oceanward pilgrims of their people. Born to the waves and shaped by the rhythms of the moon, they glide between coral temples, sunken shrines, and drifting communities of traders and tidewalkers. To them, the ocean is a spirit, a guide, and a mirror of change.

Physical Traits

Tideborne Shellon have streamlined shells with smooth, flowing lines and shells adorned with coral growths or ocean etchings. Their skin ranges from seafoam green to deep teal, often speckled with bioluminescent flecks. Their limbs are slightly elongated with webbed fingers and toes, and some sport fin-like ridges or neck frills.

Culture and Society

They are the most expressive and communal of the Shellon. Tideborne villages are often mobile — floating docks, shallow reef camps, or shifting island grottos. They value art, storytelling, and spiritual connection through song or dance. Many become traveling sages, moon-priests, or tide-guides who read currents like scripture.

Faith and Beliefs

Tideborne often revere Tenyari, Aqualon, or local water spirits. They believe each tide carries memory, and that dreams seen beneath the moonlight are gifts from the ocean’s heart. Ceremonies are held during full moons, and birth is considered sacred when it occurs during high tide.

Playing a Tideborne Shellon

To play a Tideborne is to flow like water — flexible, perceptive, and hard to pin down. Maybe you’re a wandering current-priest, a coastal oracle, or a pirate with a sacred song. Your heart may call to still waters or crashing waves — but you always move with purpose, never against the sea.

SubRacial Traits

Amphibious: You can breathe both air and water.
Swimmer’s Grace: You have a swimming speed of 30 feet.
Tidal Sense: You know the Shape Water cantrip. At 3rd level, you can cast Create or Destroy Water once per long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
