Seraphith Sauraki
“The coil tightens slowly.”
Region:
Primarily found within the dense eastern jungles of Zerokai as part of the Vessarith Coil — a cold and ritualistic empire hidden beneath the canopy. A smaller offshoot survives in the Scourge Flats of Stonefell, a salt-blasted desert they have endured for generations.
Physical Characteristics
Appearance: Seraphith Sauraki are serpentine humanoids with elongated heads, slit-pupiled eyes, and crown-like hood structures that vary in color and shape — some vibrant and ornate, others dark and imposing. Their scales range from deep emerald, black, and crimson hues in the jungle-born to dusty tan and pale ash tones among the desert-dwellers. Their long tails and graceful frames mark them as agile and precise.
Height and Build: Typically between 5’8” and 6’6”. Their bodies are lean, sinewy, and fluid in movement.
Notable Traits: All Seraphith display crown-crests that serve as a mark of maturity and status. These crests are culturally significant and influence how others perceive their standing — beauty, menace, or command.
Cultural Overview
The Vessarith Coil: Hidden in the verdant jungles of Zerokai’s eastern coast, the Vessarith Coil is a secluded theocratic society that reveres a slumbering primordial serpent god known as Ssathra’Zul. They see themselves as his chosen scions, awaiting the day of his return. Their lives revolve around blood rituals, caste obedience, and philosophical submission to the concept of destined cycles. Every Seraphith is expected to contribute to the Coil’s still and watchful perfection.
The Scourge-Born: Centuries ago, a faction of Seraphith rejected the Coil’s darker practices and fled across the sea, ultimately finding refuge in the unforgiving Scourge Flats of Stonefell. Over time, they shed most of their ties to Ssathra’Zul, adapting instead to desert life, storm omens, and the remnants of ancestral memory. While still cautious and private, they are less rigid and more nomadic, often misremembering or distorting their roots.
Beliefs and Legacy
Seraphith spiritual life is split between reverent silence and ritual precision. The Coil teaches that all things must spiral inward — all blood flows back to Ssathra’Zul in the end. They wear ceremonial bone masks, whisper prayers through venomous incense, and consider fate a binding thread. The Scourge-Born, by contrast, see fate in salt patterns and wind, guided by instinct and survival rather than prophecy.
To outsiders, Seraphith are either elegant and unsettling emissaries or vanishing desert ghosts. Most do not even realize there are two distinct factions of the same race.
Playing as a Seraphith Sauraki
Seraphith are calculating, precise, and shaped by shadowed philosophies or survivalist clarity. Ideal for players interested in patient schemers, jungle assassins, ancient bloodlines, or desert mystics.
