Sanctuary of the Hearthkeeper

The Sanctuary of the Hearthkeeper is a grand temple dedicated to Thaldruna, the dwarven goddess of family, hearth, and community. It stands as one of the most cherished and visited landmarks in Grønndal, a beacon of warmth and welcome in the bustling dwarven city.   Architecture and Design: The sanctuary is a sprawling, domed structure carved directly into the stone of the Brynstone Range. Its exterior is adorned with intricate carvings of braided motifs, flame patterns, and scenes depicting familial unity and the blessings of Thaldruna.   Entrance: A massive archway, flanked by stone braziers with eternal flames, leads into the sanctuary. Above the arch, an inscription in Dwarvish reads: "Within this hearth burns the light of kinship eternal."   Main Hall: The heart of the sanctuary is a vast chamber dominated by a towering central hearth. This sacred flame, said to be blessed by Thaldruna herself, burns perpetually. The hall’s walls are covered in murals depicting Thaldruna alongside her husband, Morgrim, and stories of dwarves united by her light.   Seating Areas: Semi-circular stone benches provide places for followers to sit and reflect. Ceiling: The dome is painted with constellations said to represent Thaldruna’s guidance in the night. Side Chambers: The sanctuary includes several smaller chambers:   The Braided Hall: A room where dwarves bring tokens of their family’s heritage, such as braided hair or crafted heirlooms, to be blessed. The Refuge Hall: A space open to travelers and those in need, offering food, warmth, and shelter. The Forge of Bonds: A sacred forge where couples are wed, and families can craft symbolic items together under the watchful eyes of the Hearthkeepers. The Sanctuary’s Purpose: Spiritual Guidance: Hearthkeepers (priests and priestesses of Thaldruna) offer blessings, guidance, and mediation for families and communities.   Blessing Ceremonies:   Families often visit to have their hearth flames blessed, symbolizing Thaldruna’s protection over their homes. Couples come to the sanctuary to exchange vows in front of the eternal flame. Community Gatherings: The sanctuary hosts communal meals, story nights, and festivals, including the Feast of Warmth during winter.   Aid to the Needy: The Refuge Hall serves as a haven for those in need, embodying Thaldruna’s teaching to extend warmth to all.
