Aelindara: The Weavekeeper

Domains: Magic, Balance, Destiny   Alignment: Neutral Good   Titles: The Weavekeeper, Mother of Magic, The Eternal Thread

Overview

Aelindara, often revered as the Weavekeeper, is the Prime Deity of Magic and Balance. She is celebrated as the creator and guardian of the Weave, the cosmic structure that binds all magic in Wakodia. Known for her deep connection to the elven race, Aelindara is said to have shaped the first elves from the threads of the Weave itself, granting them their grace and natural affinity for magic.

Mythology

The Creator of Her Daughters:   Aelindara is believed to have created her daughters, Agápi and Lagneía, from the very threads of the Weave. It is said that their creation was driven by her longing for companionship, though some legends suggest that the loss of her mate during the rise of the Betrayer Gods also played a role. The two daughters were blessed by Soldeus and Lunara, with Agápi embodying the gift of love and Lagniá the gift of beauty.   Guardian of the Weave:   Aelindara’s role as the protector of the Weave has made her a revered figure among mages and scholars. Her actions during the Arcane Cataclysm, where she sacrificed much of her strength to wound Varakus, the Covetous Flame, were pivotal in preserving the balance of magic and ensuring the Betrayer Gods could be sealed.

Appearance

Aelindara is depicted as an ethereal elven figure, with skin that glimmers like starlight and hair flowing like liquid silver. Her eyes glow with shifting aurora hues, reflecting the boundless expanse of the Weave. She is often portrayed wearing robes woven from magical threads, shimmering with patterns of silver and gold that seem to move and change with the flow of magic.

Symbol

Her symbol is an intricate, interwoven thread forming an infinity shape, glowing softly with silver and gold light. It represents the endless flow of magic and the balance she strives to maintain.

Worship and Practices

  • Followers of Aelindara honor her through rituals that symbolize balance and unity, such as weaving enchanted threads or crafting magical tapestries.
  • Temples dedicated to her are serene sanctuaries filled with glowing runes and enchanted art, often depicting the flow of magic through the world.
  • Her clergy, known as the Weavekeepers, are primarily mages, scholars, and elves who dedicate their lives to preserving the balance of magic.
  • Public Perception

Aelindara is widely respected as the guardian of magic and the creator of the elves. Her influence is strongest in elven lands and among mages, who view her as a guiding force in their craft. Among other cultures, she is seen as a distant but benevolent deity, her efforts to maintain balance often overshadowed by the more dramatic roles of other gods in Wakodia’s history.

    Legacy

Though her power has diminished since the Arcane Cataclysm, Aelindara’s presence is still felt through the Weave and the practices of her followers. Her sacrifices are remembered as a testament to the importance of balance and the enduring strength of magic.
