Cassel Demographics
((Author's Note: Map has 6 layers. Use the square on the top right to switch between them. Each layer shows the most common color, religion, or ethnic group of any given region and does not indicate that everyone in an area has that aspect.))

Religion

The vast majority of Cassel is dominated by Silism, the religion that still follows the teachings of the Gods, and by a very large majority, followers of Silism are part of the The Church of Saint Nora. There are also those that follow the Church of Yanneth, the Church of Alom, and the Church of Eralli.

The second largest religion in Cassel would be Silnic Universalism, the religion that rejects the teachings of the Elder Gods, and follows the teachings of the Creator of the universe alone. One minor sect related to Silnic Universalism is the Church of Midnight is practiced by elves in the North.

Then there are the Draconic Religions, practiced mainly by the Lamia. These religions can vary wildly by geogrpahic location and which Dragon Lord's corruption is affecting the lands.

Church of Saint Nora

With twenty million followers, Nora's teachings dominate the region. Large cathedrals are built dedicated to the Supreme Judge who sees all. The other sects of Silism are usually just variations of the Church of Saint Nora, but with the teachings of others adapted to the dogma.

While many followers refer to the Elder Gods as that term, the Church itself teaches that there is only one all-powerful being in the universe, which is Silnos himself, sometimes just referred to as God. This causes no end of confusion and frustration to followers of other sects religions who refer to the Elder Gods by their actual names, the Rena or Shepherds of Creation.

Church of Yanneth

Rather than following the Supreme Judge, Followers of this sect follow Yanneth, the Shepherd of Life. To followers of this sect, all life is sacred and it is the duty of humans to follow in Yanneth's path and shepherd the growth of creation. Leadership in this sect is all female as Yanneth once states that the male form was imperfect and subject to destructive tendencies. (2 million followers)

Church of Alom

People of this sect follow Alom, the Shepherd of Space. To followers of the church of Alom, life is insignificant to the majesty of the universe. People are to not disrupt the order of the cosmos, but Vreathe is theirs to do with however they please. The Lesser Moon Nodan is directly worshipped by the church, who beleive that Alom was not imprisoned there, but actually became the moon. (2 million followers)

Church of Eralli

Eralli was the daughter of Yanneth and Alom and is the Shepherd of Earth. The Church of Eralli is almost indistinguishable from the Church of Saint Nora but is mostly confined to the Island of Rosika in the Southwest. In the distant past Eralli lost her arm in a great battle there and that is why the island is so filled with resources. The people revere Eralli as if she is present on the island. (1 million followers)

Church of Tazil
Most of Nora's teachings state that Tazil, now valled Tarcur, caused all the strife and chaos that occured throughout Vreathe's history. For this reason, worship of Tarcur is outlawed across much of Vreathe. Few people in Cassel follow the Elder God Tazil as the original Lord of Order, but it is possible to find them. (100,000 followers)
Vikuon's Rage
In the eastern shores of western Verdina, giant spires were built in ancient times to control the rage of the imprisoned Vikuon, God of Lightning. People there still make sacrifices to quell his rage, believing him to still be trapped beneath the sea. This is not a separate sect of Silism as it is an additional set of practices people of the region have.

Silnic Universalism

This religion is practiced by the majority of the Elves, with around three million followers across the two Elf-kingdoms. In this religion, the Elves fully reject the teachings of the Elder Gods. Following the Shepherds of Creation nearly led to the end of everything, so their teachings are useless. The Elves instead send someone's soul to speak directly with Silnos every few hundres years through a ritual unknown to humans. The vast majority of Elves perish in the process of sending their soul outside all of time and infinity. The ones that return spread the knowledge that Silnos gave them, and their words are added to the Silnic Scriptures.

Church of Midnight

This small sect of Silnic Universalism is practiced by ethnic Midnight Elves. They follow the teaching of their Prophet, Nox Veritas, and are preparing for the end of everything, once the last Golden One perishes. It is their belief that nothing can stop its coming, only that it can be delayed. The number of followers is very few at around twenty thousand.

Draconic

Primarily practiced by the Lamia, the Draconic religions worship the ancient Dragon Lords and their remains spread across Vreathe. Each corpse of a Dragon Lord crashed into a specific area of Vreathe and on their death their bodies turned to crystal. Their bodies may not be divine by the definition of other religions, but unlike the gods and shepherds, the corpses of the Dragon Lords affect the land around them, corrupting life into different forms. The Lamia worship what they believe are the still living spirits of these long deceased beings, and tend to live in areas corrupted by their bodies as a result. Humans have also worshipped dragons at various points in history, though in current times there are few that still do it.

Xiralgus the Nova

The Lamia here worship North Cassel's many volcanoes, saying that all of them are a part of Xiralgus's spirit trying to reform itself. Humans in the area have always had volcano cults that worship the Fire Gods of the underworld. The religious practices between the two are virtually the same, including the plant and animal sacrifices made to their lord of fire. They also have a belief that one day, all will be consumed in fire, destroying the World Tree and destroying the universe, then all things shall be remade. (150,000 followers)

Maeos the Incorporeal

The Lamia believe that Maeos's spirit is trapped in the barrier between dimensions and that her spreading corruption if breaking down the barrier between worlds. Every few weeks during certain celestial events, countless creatures from this other world pass beyond the barrier and attempt to invade Vreathe. The Lamia fight them off, keeping the land purified for when Maeos returns. Humans that live in the area join the fight, but not for religious purposes, but because of the consequences of a succesful incursion from the other world. (50,000 followers)

Auroric

A few hundred miles southeast of Cassel is Nivema's Sorrow a Colossal Glacier in the middle of the ocean that makes everything around it cold. The climate in the region is more similar to the far north than it to the tropical south. Inside this glacier is said to be the Goddess Nivema, who froze herself during the Silver Age many thousands of years ago. The people of the Aelurus Islands seem to not care if there is a frozen goddess inside the ice or not, but instead worship the glacier, the icy heart of their culture and land. They claim the ice itself is a god and that they must worship it and make sacrifices to it or the ice will melt and their way of life will vanish. There are only a few thousand followers of this religion.
