Pan

Summary

Pan is the Satyr god of the wilderness, shepherds, nature, music, and lust. He is seen as the most important member of the pantheon by most adherents of the Satyr gods. He is seen as the consort of the The Daylight Queen and the creator of the Satyrs.

Worship

Because of his role in creating their kind, Pan is revered by all Satyrs, though he is rarely worshipped by other converts to their gods. The Fauni of Tanalki are particularly reverential toward Pan due to his role as consort of the The Daylight Queen. Pan is considered the patron deity of the forest cities of Defteros in Tanalki and Agelum in Sakilos.

Myths

When the Satyrs became ascendant on the mortal plane after The Cataclysm, so to did the power of their gods. Pan, the father of all Satyrs, benefitted the most from this Satyr expansion. After conspiring with the Daylight Queen to lure Zeus to the Feywild, Pan used his newfound powers to trap Zeus' voice in a , ridding the god of his ability to control lightning or leave the plane. He then trapped Zeus in a nest of unbreakable brambles and assumed his position as head of the Sylvan Gods.

Family

Pan is said to be older than the rest of the Sylvan Pantheon. As a result, his parentage is unclear. Not the type for married life, Pan's only named children are two he had with the The Daylight Queen: Silenus and Faunus. These were the first two Satyrs and produced the Sileni and Fauni lineages.

Equivalents

Due to Pan's close association with Satyrs, he has few equivalents in other cultures. However, the Firbolg associate Pan with the Giant god of wood named Pruem.
