Government
The city itself is run by a lord appointed by the Monarch, so that they can focus on more outward matters.
There is also a city council that represents different sections of Advar, and discuss regulation and law changes.
Defences
The great sea wall curves like a semi circle to defend the dockyards, and has been upgraded over time. Various Sea turrets dot along it's perimeter, with torpedo launchers embedded in the wall itself. A few Missile silos are well hidden within the 2 military structures at either end of the sea wall.
The north and south bunkers proudly stand guard, with two more turrets pointed sea-ward. great, smooth, sloped towers. They contain barracks and weaponry enough to defend the harbour against a full scale invasion.
Industry & Trade
Being the capitol the mighty Mregian empire has it's perks, mainly due to the commerce and imports from all colonies, conquests, and states. From raw materials needed to build war machines, to the finest Rezakian tea leaves, there is nothing you can't buy in the markets of Advar.
Infrastructure
Advar is a coastal city, and has one of the most magnificent seafronts in the Empire, with a variety of shops positioned to take advantage of the surroundings, and proximity to the dockyards bringing imports of items exotic and vital.
Guilds and Factions
One of the oldest institutions is the college of Lera, which trains Leromirs to use their abilities, though it is a dying art due to the declining amount of Leromirs in the world.
Vernan industries have been popping up ever since the unification wars. One of the most influential is V.S.I, a company that develops a large portion of technology the military uses, their most recent invention (Visors) allow helmets to be tougher, while allowing great visibility and awareness. And a version for the navy that will make glass bridges obsolete. V.S.I has quite a sway with the military.
There are various martial arts schools and combat arenas that cater to the Mregian tradition of melee duels. Most of these schools teach Mregian styles, but new and exotic combat styles are starting to appear as well. The arenas also allow spectators to view yearly tournaments, with a championship every year in the grand stadium
